Welcome
to the Highland School District website! What a great way to
share information and communicate. We are
blessed with a great technology department lead by- Matt Fredericksen
and Jeff Kopsic.
We are here to help provide the best learning opportunity
we can for our students. It is our goal to work with students,
their families, the communities, and the taxpayers of our district,
providing a safe and positive learning environment. We are fortunate
to have a great working relationship with area churches, civic
organizations, community governments, police, fire, and other
agencies. Our district is made up of five separate communities,
many industries and businesses, and several service organizations.
We have communities rich in history and steeped in tradition.
Our students come from farms, subdivisions, and the city. We have
a little of everything and lots of community pride. We are lucky
to live in an area far enough away from the problems of big cities,
yet close enough to enjoy the culture and advantages.
We also are proud of our PTO organizations, booster
clubs (band and athletic), and our relationships with many civic
organizations that annually contribute time, money, and labor
for the benefit of our students. To each volunteer, we say THANK
YOU! And we mean it.
The Highland Community Unit School District also
has a wonderful association with the Business Education Alliance,
a group of business and community leaders that works with school
personnel to provide learning opportunities for both the students
and residents of our district. This partnership has earned the
highest honors from the Illinois State Board of Education.
We are very proud of the tradition of academic
excellence that we offer to our students. We are also proud
of the support
we receive from all of our stakeholders. Our kids do well, we
offer quality programs, we are growing, and we have become a
leader
in school technology in our area. We also have some of the finest
teachers ( twenty-two have earned National Board Certification)
and most dedicated administrators you can find anywhere. Add
to all of this, a quality board of
education and support staff, and you have the makings of a wonderful
place to send your young people for their education.
If you ever have a question or concern, I invite
you to call or contact any school administrator or my office.
I will do whatever is possible to provide you with a timely answer.
Several times a year, the district produces a newsletter
entitled "Know Your Schools." This is published in the Highland
News Leader and the Tri County Shopper. Every home in our district
receives a copy. I write a column for that newsletter that outlines
current issues.
