Notice of Proposed Property Tax Increase
For Highland Community Unit School District No. 5
I. A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for Highland Community Unit School District No. 5, Counties of Madison, Bond and Montgomery for 2024 will be held on December 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Highland CUSD #5, 400 Broadway, Highland, IL 62249.

II. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2023 were $19,555,637.
The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $21,888,392. This represents a 11.93% increase over the previous year.
III. The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2023 were $4,055,513.
The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2024 are $4,256,389. This represents a 4.95% increase from the previous year.
IV. The total property taxes extended or abated for 2023 were $23,611,150.
The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $26,144,781. This represents a 10.73% increase over the previous year.
